For the large majority of our tools, your files never leave your device. Operations like merging PDFs, compressing images, converting file formats, generating QR codes and formatting code all run locally in your browser using JavaScript, so the file is processed on your own computer and is never uploaded to a server. That means your documents, photos and data stay private by design. A small number of tools that genuinely need an external lookup (for example checking a domain or your IP address) clearly send only the minimum query required, and we never store the results.

Modern browsers are far more capable than most people realise. They ship with powerful built-in technologies: the Canvas API for images, the File and Blob APIs for reading and writing files, WebAssembly for heavy processing, and the Web Crypto API for secure random values. WowShortcuts uses these directly, so a tool can read your file into memory, transform it and hand back a finished download entirely on your machine. This is why the tools feel instant: there is no upload step and no waiting in a server queue.

Because processing happens on the device itself, performance depends on your phone rather than your internet connection, so even large files are handled quickly once they are loaded.

There is no artificial cap that we impose. Since the work happens in your browser, the practical limit is your device’s available memory rather than a server quota. On a typical laptop or modern phone you can comfortably merge large PDFs and compress high-resolution images. Very large files (hundreds of megabytes) may run slower on older or low-memory devices simply because everything is held in memory while it is processed, but you can run as many separate operations as you like, one after another, with no counter ticking down.

Absolutely. Anything you produce with WowShortcuts (a merged PDF, a compressed image, a generated invoice or QR code) belongs entirely to you. We do not claim any ownership over your content, we do not store it, and because most processing never reaches our servers, we never even see it. You are free to use the results for personal, educational or commercial purposes without attribution.

For client-side tools, once the page has finished loading you can often continue working even if your connection becomes unstable, because the actual processing does not need the network. The initial visit does require internet to load the page, but the file conversion or generation step itself runs locally. Tools that perform an online lookup are the exception and do need a live connection to return a result.
